Well, demo has officially started, and it's just as awful as I expected it to be. The master bathroom has plastic tiles on the walls that refuse to come off. The kithcen floor has multiple layers of rot and mold, and the hardwood floor underneath the linoleum and tar paper(...so much tar paper...what???) is warped, rotten and stubborn to remove. The first dumpster is full, and ready to go to the dump. I hired help from the local hardware store to assist with the tear out of the carpet, padding, trim and extra furniture that was left behind. It was a busy week, but progress is being made.
Oh, and the first thing I did was install a new furnace, because as I mentioned before, there wasn't any heat, and we got snow! But the furnace works great! My friends at T&G Electric are helping to upgrade the electrical in the house. As much as I love un-grounded 2-prong outlets, I think they should be upgraded and more modern, and of course we need some GFCI protection, which the house doesn't have any of currently.
The most important update this week is apparently there is a Buck that chooses to stay in the back of the house. He's very friendly, and I'm pretty sure he's just as interested in this house as I am. He doesn't offer any help, or sign autographs, but he loves to pose for pictures!
