Another week in, and demo continues. Let me just throw this out there... Demo of some kind will likely continue to happen for the duration of this project. I still need to replace some windows, exterior doors, the garage door etc. I don't have those yet, but as they come in, I will be replacing them. But the nice thing is I can start putting new things in, like walls, stairs, drywall, and those kinds of things. Progress is still good, and on schedule.
I would like to make a shout-out to the local Ace Hardware! They are surprisingly well-stocked, and the people are very friendly and helpful. In fact, one of their employees has been helping me with some demo, and loading the dumpsters. Thanks Chris for all your help!
So, we got the old cast iron tub out, all the bathroom tile, the downstairs carpet as well as the carpet on the stairs, and filled second dumpster. The kitchen floor tear out is complete and I've started laying new subfloor and underlayment for the new floor. This is exciting because I'm going to layout and start building the new walls in the kitchen for the pantry I'm adding. I'm excited for how different and useful this kitchen space will be when it's done.
One more thing of important note: I had an asbestos test performed on the popcorn ceilings throughout the house. It all came back negative, so guess what that means?? Guess!?
.......I'm removing all the popcorn!! Ok to be honest removing it is a tedious pain in the butt, however the new owners will be popcorn free, and that makes me happy.
As a side note: During this renovation, I will also be doing work for my clients. I have several projects lined up over the next few weeks that I will be taking care of for them, and as always for anyone who needs anything, please just let me know. My clients come first. Let's get you all taken care of!
